    Hello everyone,

I am planning to pitch buying a slide scanner and virtual microscopy system for our histology course. Can you tell me which scanners and programs you are currently using? Do you have other suggestions?

    thanks,

    Hello Brent,

We used Bacus for our original scans and that was over 10 years ago.  Bacus was replaced by Olympus and they have a scanning system available.
We have switched to Biolucida and I have been happy with them.  We converted about 130 slides to the Biolucida system and I like the Biolucida Viewer and the support from the company.
We did purchase a Nikon Cool Scope for scanning slides when we first started around 2006, and that system never well worked for us.
We do not have scanning system so if you find one that you like I would like to hear about it.

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hi,
I am also investigating converting to Digital Microscopy for teaching Histology to Medical (MD), Osteopathic medical, Dental, and graduate students.. We are not planning to buy a scanner at this time. What programs are popular and are easy to use.

    Thank you,
