Digital Histology Interest Group or DHIG

Hi All, 

I am working on setting up live "Zoom Histology labs" for the fall. I am looking for a good video/still camera that would connect an Olympus BH-2 microscope to a laptop.  I would like to be able to share the screen in Zoom (or Echo360), show the microscope field, and talk at the same time.  I would like to record the lab sessions and be able to post them on D2L.

I looked at the Swiftcam 18 Megapixel Camera for Microscopes and the  OMAX 5MP Digital Camera for Microscopes. 

 Do any of you have any suggestions or recommendations?  I would really appreciate your input.

Hello Nancy,
why don't you run your lab sessions with virtual slides? That way you don't have to operate the microscope and your computer at the same time. Everything is on your computer. You can even use the VMD slides. The only disadvantage is that your students don't have access to the VMD slides unless you download the image files and make them available to your students from a local server. A demo session with VMD slides should work well with Zoom.
Just a thought and my recommendation.
