Dear AAA member,
We have been actively working on a AAA Innovation Grant Proposal to establish an International Virtual Microscope Slide Repository through which users can share histology and pathology slides (and even embryological or 3D databases) for educational or research purposes. Slides housed in the repository would be made available through a creative commons license, and be accessible for download by institutions and individuals with a clinical, academic or research affiliation. The repository would be hosted by the University of Michigan utilizing a cloud based storage model already in use there at a smaller scale. If funded, it is anticipated that access to the repository would be free and expedited for AAA members, and at least in the short term no-fees would be imposed for any user.
At this time, we would like reach out to the AAA community for some feedback about the proposed repository in order to gauge interest in contributing or accessing such a repository once established. We hope to list as many potential contributors as possible in the grant application.
