Dr. Camarata's research interests include self-regulated learning and implementation of artificial intelligence into medical education. He also heads a research lab focused on comparative developmental ontology of the metanephric kidney. The Camarata lab is studying the presence of continual nephrogenesis in reptiles using the red-eared slider turtle as a model system. Combining cell biology and genomic/transcriptomic techniques, his lab investigates the differences in kidney progenitor cell maintenance between reptiles and mammals.
